About the Library
The Library plays a pivotal role in enhancing the teaching-learning process at the university. Over the years, it has dedicated itself to building an extensive collection of learning resources and facilitating knowledge access through its services. The college Library is one of the oldest and richest libraries in Rajasthan It is well with a large collection of books by several prominent Indian and foreign authors. There is an open-shelf system having about 25260 books and an exclusive collection of repute and also subscribes to all important daily newspapers, periodicals, and magazines. Apart from the journals and textbooks, the library possesses and maintains very rich reference sections comprising yearbooks, rare collections, dictionaries, and complete works of several Hindi and English writers.
For convenience in managing and functioning the library is divided into four sections, namely, the general section the textbook section, the reference section, and the book bank. J. B. Shah Girls (P.G.) College has the largest, fully air-conditioned, and well-equipped library among all the colleges. It is equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity and is under surveillance by CCTV Cameras. It is furnished with more than 14104 books, around 11156 book bank collections, 06 newspaper in Hindi & English Language and 14 journals and 10 magazines. It also has a broad spectrum of general and reference books to support the academic requirements of the students and faculty members. The Circulation Section has an extensive collection covering all UG/PG courses offered by the college, allowing borrowers to access a designated number of books.

Circulation Section
Monday to Saturday: 9 AM to 5:00 PM
Membership
- Registration should be done to become a library member before using the library resources.
- A library Membership Card is compulsory for getting access to the library.
- Some eminent academicians/scholars and other dignitaries may be enrolled as Special members on the recommendations of the Principal.
Circulation
- Books are issued for a fortnight except reserve books which are issued for overnight use only.
- Books in demand may not be renewed.
- Readers are responsible for books issued against their names.
- Library reserves the right to recall any issued book even before the due date.
- The material such as rare books, reference books, loose issues of periodicals etc. marked for consultation shall not be issued.
- Borrowers must satisfy about the physical condition of the books before borrowing otherwise they will be held responsible for any damage later or at the time of return.
Overdue charges
- Textbooks – the overdue charges Rs. 1/- per day per book.
- Membership shall be suspended for repeated delay in returning the books.
Use of computers/laptops etc
- Computer in the library should be used for academic purposes only.
- Online chatting/dating, browsing of social networking sites is strictly prohibited. Strict disciplinary action will be taken against the defaulters.
- Readers must carry their Library Membership card while using the Computer.
- Readers should not remove/unplug computer cables/connections, network cables and other peripherals/accessories in the library.
- Personal keyboard, mouse, etc are not allowed inside the Library.
- Students must take care of their Pen drives, CD/DVD ROMs, mobiles and wallets etc.
General Reading Hall
- The right to use General Reading Hall is exclusively reserved for register members.
- Members should produce their Library Membership card at the entrance.
- Readers should not leave bags/books/copies on the table and cannot claim, capture, and reserve seats for future use.
- The seats are to be used / occupied on the first come first served basis.
- Capturing/reserving seats for friends/future use is strictly prohibited.
- Readers should not scribble on table tops or damage them.
- Readers should not clutter the table with heaps of books and other reading material.
General rules
- Enter your name, class and sign in the register kept at the entrance counter before entry and exit.
- Show the books and other materials that are being taken out of the library to the security guard and staff at the entrance counter.
- While entering the library, the person(s) should leave their personal belongings, such as bags, briefcases, personal books, and parcels at the property counter of the library at their own risk. However, they can carry loose papers and notebooks
- A person desirous of using the library has to enter his/her name time (in and out) and put his/her signature in the register kept for the purpose at the entrance of the library.
- The Library follows an open access system. Books or other materials taken from the stacks should not be re-shelved by the readers but should be left on the tables reserved for this purpose. Please remember that a book misplaced is a book lost.
- Library items must not be marked, defaced, mutilated or damaged in any way. If anyone is found doing so, he will be charged the full replacement cost of the material and other disciplinary action.
- Eating, drinking and smoking are strictly prohibited inside the library.
- Silence is to be maintained and no group discussion is permitted inside the library premises.
- Mobile phones must be set to vibrate or silent ring mode while in the Library, and are not permitted to be used inside the library. Fine will be charged Rs.500/- to a user if found guilty of using a mobile phone inside the library.
- A person must satisfy before leaving the issue desk as to whether the book is in sound condition or not. Otherwise, he/she may be responsible.
- Readers should maintain peace in the library and should not disturb other users in any way.
- These rules are subject to revision/updated from time to time without assigning any reason.
Visitors
- Consultation facility is available for Research Scholars of other Universities/Institutions for a short period.
- The Research Scholars should bring recommendation letter from Supervisor/Guide or letter from the concerned Department/Organization.
- The visiting scholar should bring original and valid photo ID etc.

An oasis of academic rigor and intellectual pursuit. Here, scholars and students alike delve into encyclopedias, dictionaries, and other authoritative texts, mining for nuggets of wisdom to fuel their quests for enlightenment.
Periodical Area:
The Periodical Area buzzes with the excitement of current affairs and cutting-edge research. Magazines and journals line the shelves, offering snapshots of the ever-evolving landscape of human thought and discovery.
Competitive Exam Book Area:
Nestled within the labyrinthine corridors of the library, the Competitive Exam Book Area stands as a beacon of aspiration and dedication.
